ZigBee / IEEE802.15.4 Evaluation and Development Kit is intended to facilitate the evaluation and development process of ZigBee / IEEE802.15.4 Wireless Module TOCOS Wireless Engine. We have packaged everything you need so that you can start the process smoothly without spending too much time on preparing for evaluation.
As ZigBee / IEEE802.15.4 Evaluation and Development Kit contains measurement software (communications quality measurement tool) that is useful in evaluating communications performance, you can start measuring and evaluating the signal range on the spot.
You can also prototype on the ZigBee/IEEE802.15.4 Evaluation and Development Kit and start developing software. It is suitable to create a demonstration system in a short period based on the ZigBee/IEEE802.15.4 Evaluation and Development Kit.
Software Development Kit (SDK) is made available for free. There is no limitation in available functions or duration of use, so you can save on initial costs to start an evaluation and development process. Even if the number of developers is increased, no additional costs are required.
With the ZigBee/IEEE802.15.4 Evaluation and Development Kit, ZigBee PRO stack and JenNet stack become available for free of lisence. You can also establish your own communications stack on IEEE802.15.4 instead of those communications stacks.
The use of the ZigBee/IEEE802.15.4 Evaluation and Development Kit also allows you to write the software developed on a PC in a module, so you do not have to make a new dedicated jig for writing. The ZigBee/IEEE802.15.4 Evaluation and Development Kit is also equipped with USB cables to connect with a PC and software for downloading.
On the wireless sensor node that comes with ZigBee/IEEE802.15.4 Evaluation and Development Kit, temperature, humidity, and illuminance sensors, general-purpose push switches, and LED are mounted, which can be controlled with ZigBee/IEEE802.15.4 Wireless Module TOCOS Wireless Engine. You can also add optional sensors and actuators to the extended connector.
A variety of Sample Programs are available, so you can proceed with your development work based on the program with functions close to the ones you want.
The ZigBee/IEEE802.15.4 Evaluation and Development Kit accompanies the technical support service good for a year from the date of purchase.
* For support on development using a ZigBee PRO stack, you will get direct support from the developer of the ZigBee PRO stack. Please discuss it with the stack developer before purchase. (For IEEE802.15.4 API/JenNet, Tokyo Cosmos Electric will offer support based on its development know-how.)
Our development engineers will answer your questions about how to use ZigBee/IEEE802.15.4 Evaluation and Development Kit or the inquiries that may arise during evaluation or development through the technical support service. Take advantage of the service to facilitate your evaluation and development process.

Wireless Sensor Tag
- Product Name:
- Wireless Sensor Tag
- Product Number:
- TWE-EK-002-TAG-RPA (with TWE-001 mounted)
TWE-EK-002-TAG-SPA (with TWE-001 STRONG mounted)
ZigBee/IEEE802.15.4 Evaluation and Development Kit comes with 2 wireless sensor tags. (The item is also available for sale separately.)
The evaluation board is a small wireless tag type and can be used with TWE-001/TWE-001 STRONG. It will operate on a coin battery. It is best suited for an active type RFID and evaluation as a wireless sensor.
It is equipped with a temperature and humidity sensor, 1 push button switch, and 2 LEDs, and has a battery holder for CR2032/2025 inside.
* A coin battery can supply only small current, so it is essential to consider how to use the product according to the requirement of power saving. Operating a wireless module requires large current (10 - 20 mA) constantly or momentarily compared with the current supplied by a coin battery, so you need to establish the application to work intermittently.
* The capacity of a coin battery is small, so it is not suited for evaluation as a coordinator or a router, which requires continuous operation.

In addition to the development methods using a command line tool and makefile, Eclipse Integrated Development Environment (IDE) is available.
A program is to be created using the prepared API with C language. A variety of Sample Programs are also available.
There is no limitation in duration of use or available functions for the Software Development Kit (SDK), so no additional costs are required.
JTAG Debugger (JTAG ICE) TWE-JD-001 that supports ZigBee/IEEE802.15.4 Evaluation and Development Kit is also available for sale separately. This helps you debug very efficiently. With TWE-JD-001, you can check the parameters wherever you want by setting a break point while watching the source code and stopping execution at given point, and execute the operation line by line, which promises you a stress-free use. For more details, please see JTAG Debugger (JTAG ICE).
As for a development environment, it operates on a 32 bit Windows Vista, XP, and 2000 * 1.

For more details, please see TWE-ZERO.
Network Discovery Tool (Accompanying Software)
ZigBee/IEEE802.15.4 Evaluation and Development Kit accompanies the software for Network Discovery Tool. Network Discovery Tool can be used as a tool to monitor the radio waves environment (Site Survey: simplified spectrum analyzer for each channel in the 2.4 GHz band) and the communications conditions of IEEE802.15.4, JenNet, and ZigBee PRO networks.
Network Discovery Tool operates on the Wireless Sensor Node (with LCD) that comes with the kit.
It is a very useful tool to grasp the usage status of the 2.4 GHz band.
It can be used to easily check the radio waves environment before conducting wireless measurement. You can figure out which channels have a high level of noise.
Please see ZigBee/IEEE802.15.4 Measurement Tool.
Communications Quality Measurement Tool (Accompanying Software)
ZigBee/IEEE802.15.4 Evaluation and Development Kit accompanies the software for Communications Quality Measurement Tool. The tool can measure the packet error rate (PER) and quantify the communications quality between modules.
A Wireless Sensor Node (with LCD) and a Wireless Sensor Node (without LCD) that come with the kit are to be used.
A loopback test is conducted for the data packets between the two nodes to indicate the error rate and measure the communications performance.
You can measure the line-of-sight signal range and evaluate the communications in the installation place with obstacles.
It does not require a PC for measurement, which makes it very easy to carry the tool when you want to conduct measurement.
This tool can evaluate the communications performance of ZigBee/IEEE802.15.4 Module TOCOS Wireless Engine thoroughly.
For the operating method, please see ZigBee/IEEE802.15.4 Measurement Tool.
